remoteFOCUS
remoteFOCUS is a national initiative that aims to improve the way governments, govern, administer and engage with remote Australia. remoteFOCUS:
- Began in 2008 when 28 Australians with extensive experience of government, government administration and remote Australia discussed the apparent failure of current structures to deliver effective government to remote Australia.
- Considers that 85% of the country is remote from the national state and territory centres of administration.
- Released a prospectus for change, remoteFOCUS: revitalising Remote Australia.
- Has undertaken wide consultation across remote Australia.
- Has determined the need for fundamental changes to ensure good government in the bush.
remoteFOCUS Pilbara Project
The remoteFOCUS Pilbara Project will:
- Consider how governments need to change how they govern, administer and interact with the Pilbara region.
- Develop recommended measures and reforms for the Pilbara region.
- Test and improve the national remoteREFORM Package.
- Discuss how governments can better govern and interact with the Pilbara.
- Determine how government contribution to the region is most effective.
The remoteFOCUS Pilbara Project is funded by the Pilbara Development Commission through the Regional Grants Scheme. remoteREFORM
remoteREFORM is:
- A national package of reforms to change the way governments engage with, administer and govern remote Australia.
- In prepartion and will be released in the coming months.
