Welcome to Desert Knowledge

Semi-arid and arid lands ('deserts') cover over two-thirds of Australia. Our nation values these heartlands for their unspoiled, remote and unique environments. One third of the world's land surface is desert and these regions are inhabited by about one billion people or one sixth of the world's population.

Desert Knowledge Australia is working towards developing 'thriving desert knowledge economies', through the building of networks and partnerships across desert Australia to create an economically and socially sustainable future. These 'thriving economies' will be formed in association with other desert regions around the world.
