Business Champions

"I'm an inaugural member of the DKA OBN Mining Services Network. We've expanded our market out from here to just about every state in Australia... I'd encourage all of you guys in private enterprise to get on board and be active in it - it will help your business, lifts your profile up and gets things moving outside your comfort zone."
John Joseland, TransAlign ISM & Fluid Power, Alice Springs

TransAlign ISM (Transmission Alignment In Situ Machining) was established in 1995 and is a division of long-standing hydraulic engineering firm, Fluid Power NT. Developed in response to customer needs, TransAlign brings the workshop to the machine, servicing large machinery in situ across Australia and, more recently South America, Asia and the Pacific.

"I believe my business has benefited greatly from its association with Outback Business Networks. A good example of this was the OBN Mining Expo held in Tennant Creek (NT) early in 2011. Through my membership with OBN and attending the expo, I was able to meet directly with two new mines in the Barkly region and have since set up supply accounts with both. This will have great financial benefits to my business in the next 12-18 months."
Brett Peterson, Mount Isa Mining Supplies

The Auscott Civil Experience

Outback Business Networks' Business Champions Jim Bowe and Rob Collins run Auscott Civil, a contracting company comprises of three subsidiary companies specialising in civil engineering, earth moving, pipe supply welding and fitting, as well as traffic control for road work projects. Their head office is in Townsville with major contracts also coming out of Cloncurry and the North West region.

“Thanks to Desert Knowledge Australia Outback Business Networks a number of organisations were able to display their capabilities at the Energy and Resources Symposium. The response of mining and resource companies was amazing. MQP Service made some great contacts and networks.”
Joel Butcher, Mine Quarry and Plant Services, Broken Hill

“Being a part of OBN helps us keep up to date with new developments in the Creative Industries across regional Australia and provides us with the opportunity to connect and learn from other regional artists and art groups.

Likewise we supply information about our activities to OBN, to help attract businesses and organisations interested in our projects. For example, recently we received overwhelming support for one of our 2012 partnership projects, the Desert Equinox Solar Art Exhibition, with 12 local businesses offering their in-kind and financial support.

Without DKA OBN it would have been very difficult for us to contact the businesses interested in this opportunity.”
Dennis Watson, Vice President Broken Hill Art Exchange Inc
