Outback Business Networks to launch new - look Members Directory

A directory featuring members of the Desert Knowledge Australia Outback Business Networks is being launched at a free Business Networking Breakfast next week.

The launch and breakfast, at the Desert Knowledge Business and Innovation Centre, are part of the program of events for October Business Month across the Northern Territory.

According to Outback Business Networks Services Manager Jeanette Wormald, the new-look data base reflects the recent shift of business into the digital economy.

“An on-line presence and social media are now important tools of trade for businesses wanting to engage with their customers,” she said.

“As well as enabling people to search out businesses by region and industry, the new-look directory features direct links to members’ Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts for the first time.”

More than 1450 businesses across Australia are members of Outback Business Networks. The Networks is Australia’s only national network of small to medium sized business enterprises, linking remote-based businesses across Outback Australia.

It has won international acclaim for its work in introducing the concept of business clustering to the NT and Outback Australia, using appropriate communication technology to link businesses and assist them to overcome the key challenge of isolation and achieve the same reach and market impact as metropolitan-based businesses by creating critical mass.

The free breakfast and directory launch will be held on Wednesday 10 October from 7.30am at the Desert Knowledge Business and Innovation Centre in the Desert Knowledge Precinct.

All business people are welcome to attend.
